Fans of Call the Midwife are in for another trip to Poplar this week, but following that, there will be a brief hiatus until the subsequent episode.
The beloved weekly drama, which chronicles the lives of nurse midwives in London’s East End during the late 1960s, has been rescheduled to accommodate the BAFTA Film Awards, set to broadcast on Sunday, February 16.
The next instalment (episode 7) is now slated to air on Sunday, February 23, at the regular slot of 8pm. While some viewers may be entirely oblivious to the shift, it’s not the first time the BAFTA Film Awards have influenced the programme’s timetable.
Last year, the season 13 finale was similarly postponed by a week due to the esteemed event. This year, David Tennant will once again preside over the BAFTA Film Awards, with major films such as Conclave, Emilia Pérez, The Brutalist, Anora, Dune: Part Two, and Wicked all vying for top accolades.
A host of stars are expected to grace the red carpet as the ceremony unfolds in London.

Speaking frankly, she revealed: “Who knows! It’ll be interesting to see what happens there. At the moment, I don’t know, and I’m excited to find out what happens.”
On the other hand, Call The Midwife’s screenwriter Heidi Thomas has dismissed any concerns about the show running dry on compelling plots.
In a conversation with The Sun, she expressed her sentiments about the team’s reunion for another series, stating: “We all belong together. We all meet here every year in the Emporium of Unflattering Light to join with this company of people again. I don’t know how long we’re going to go on but we aren’t going to run out of stories.”
Call The Midwife airs Sundays at 8pm on One.
