One satisfied shopper said: “Works very well. Half my family have one of these and after them constantly telling me I should also get one I did and it works very well in notifying of unwelcome callers, parcel delivery etc. I’ve even been able to help someone prove that a parcel the company said was delivered was not as it records time as well and I don’t miss callers that I do want to see you also feel safer.”

Another said: “Very easy to put in place and set up on the app and WiFi. Easily linked to our already-in-place video cameras and has worked perfectly. Motion detection is effective and the sound quality has been very good, but, of course, this depends on the quality of the WiFi connection. The battery seems to be more than adequate – we’re currently at 89% after six weeks usage. Brightness is generally fine.”

Don’t miss…

A third said: “This is the first ring doorbell I have had. The quality of the video and sound is very good. I went for the bronze and it looks very nice, a lot better than the grey that was available. The battery life is very good, i haven’t needed to charge it so far and it goes off a lot. I have had it for five weeks. The doorbell is set up on my Alexa app and my echo show in the house. It was easy to set up and is very easy to use.”

However, noting a potential flaw, the same reviewer added: “The only downside is the £7.99 a month to use the extra functions.”

The ‘extra functions’ – which include the saving and rewatching of videos for up to 180 days – are part of a Ring Home subscription. However, the Ring doorbell does include all of this free for a month with a 30-day trial.

Ring isn’t the only home security brand on offer at Amazon, with the a great lower-cost alternative at £34 – down from £59.99. For maximum security, there’s also the that’s more than half price at £120, down from £274.99.
