Police started investigating the daycare owner-operator in October 2024 after receiving reports of assaults dating back to 2022
The owner of an Abbotsford daycare has been charged with assaulting children in her care.

On Tuesday, Abbotsford police arrested Indu Takhar, 60, the owner and operator of a daycare in east Abbotsford.
It began investigating Takhar in October 2024 after receiving allegations children were assaulted at the daycare in 2022.
Police did not elaborate on the nature of the alleged assaults, but said it involved children ages two to six.
An individual with the same name is listed as the owner of Smile ’N’ Play, which started in 2019 and operates three daycares in Abbotsford.
Two of the daycares are in the 3000-block of McKinley Drive in east Abbotsford and offer a multi-age daycare for kids 0-12 and an infant and toddler centre for kids 0-36 months.
A man who answered the phone number listed for the daycare hung up after a Postmedia reporter identified herself.
Takhar has been charged with six counts of assault and has been released from custody. She has been ordered by the court not to go to any daycare centres and have no contact with anyone under the age of 16 years old.
