A account called has shared a video suggesting that you don’t have to cut or even squeeze your avocado to see if it is good to go.

They explain that you can get an indication of an avocado’s ripeness by pinching off the cap (the small stem at the top).

The content creator said: “If it’s white then it’s rotten.” She then cut the avocado in half to show the inside of the avocado, which was rotten.

If the cap is difficult to remove or exposes brown or blackened flesh underneath, the avocado is probably overripe and very likely about to go brown and mushy.

If the cap comes off easily and reveals bright green flesh underneath, the avocado is likely ripe.
