Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis are likely to be full-time working royals in the future
and Princess Kate may be parents to three young children, but it is of course their eldest who is set to take on the biggest job of all later in life.
With Prince George, 11, second-in-line to the throne after William, 42, and the current King Charles, some may wonder what the future will hold for the couple’s younger children Princess Charlotte, nine, and Prince Louis, six.
These concerns come after William’s younger brother , 40, has been very vocal about what it feels like to be a “spare” – a term he uses to describe his place as being the younger sibling of a future King.
In his 2023 memoir Spare, Harry – who quit life as a senior royal in 2020 – revealed how he felt being William’s younger sibling with no clear royal path.
He wrote in the memoir: “Two years older than me, Willy () was the Heir, whereas I was the Spare. I was the shadow, the support, the Plan B. I was brought into the world in case something happened to Willy.”
While this feeling could be felt by Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis in the future, one royal author thinks this is unlikely as the two children are also destined to have “major roles” in the Royal Family one day.

The children are also believed to be treated equally to George, 11, by their parents despite the major role that awaits him.
Royal author Phil Dampier : “He (George) is the future King but the way things are going Charlotte and Louis may have major roles in the future.
“Certainly the royal family will need them as they are getting thin on the ground.
“ always felt like ‘The Spare’ but perhaps that won’t happen with Charlotte and Louis as there are two of them and they will support each other, as well as George.”
