Lorraine praised her ambition, asking: “That’s something you’ve always wanted to do, isn’t it?” To which Kacey responded enthusiastically: “Yeah! So, I storied this episode. It is something I’ve always wanted to do. I started writing with Tracy-Ann Oberman when we had babies together. We had quite a successful time of it.”
She continued, reflecting on the challenges of balancing writing with acting, Kacey added: “The trouble was, I work as an actress and so does she.
“So we’re always so busy, you can’t concentrate on these things. I always think it’s never too late. It’s never too late to do something like this.”
Cathy and Geordie are set to clash
Kacey has disclosed her proactive approach with her character in Grantchester, revealing she’s been pitching ideas for years and even penned an episode during the festive break, reports
She admitted: “When I had three weeks off, I got up early, before the kids got up, wrote an episode, and then went for it!”
Following a nudge from co-star Tessa Peake-Jones, Kacey mustered the courage to share her work with the executive producers.
After a nerve-wracking wait, they embraced her ideas, inviting her to join the creative team with guidance from Daisy Coulam.

Discussing her character’s experiences with menopause and her daughter’s struggle in a sexist workplace, Kacey said: “The episode is called a female perspective and that’s what I wanted to focus in on.
“We’ve got such a strong show, with all the characters. I wanted to see Miss Scott outside the police station, which she is. I wanted for Skye, who plays Esme, to have a really strong storyline, she’s been with us since we were nine years old!”
Grantchester continues Wednesdays on ITV from 9pm.
