George and Mildred star’s widow shares tragic last picture before husband’s death

George and Mildred star Brian Murphy’s wife, Linda Regan, paid a heartfelt tribute to her late husband and released their last photo together.

The actor, best known for his roles in the 1970s British sitcoms Man About The House and George and Mildred, on Sunday (January 2) morning.

Murphy is survived by his wife, Hi-de-Hi! actress Linda, 75, and his two sons, Trevor and Kevin, from his first marriage.

On Tuesday, Regan took to with a sweet photo of herself and Murphy who sat across her at a dinner table.

Alongside the touching snap of them smiling, she revealed it was “Our last date together. Dinner on a trip up the Thames.”

“We were sooo happy that night. Sleep well my darling soulmate. Thank you for loving me so much,” she concluded.

This comes after Regan posted a heart-wrenching goodbye to Murphy with a few short words of goodbye.

The sweet message, which was accompanied by a photo of them kissing, reads: “My love for you will never die. RIP, sweetheart.”

In an earlier statement, the actress said: “I was lucky to have in my lifetime found my soulmate. Brian who I will love forever.”

Murphy’s friend and agent, Thomas Bowington, described the star as a “joyful and profoundly good-hearted man” and paid tribute to his “talent and humanity”.

After starring in a play together in 1990, the late actor and his wife got married in 1995 and lived together in Kent.

Although they didn’t welcome any children together, Murphy entered the marriage with two sons from his previous relationship with his ex-wife, Carol Gibson.

Murphy rose to stardom for his role as landlord George Roper in the ITV sitcom Man About the House, which starred Richard O’Sullivan as Robin Tripp, Paula Wilcox and Sally Thomsett as flatmates Chrissy and Jo, while Yootha Joyce played Roper’s domineering wife Mildred.

Joyce and Murphy later starred in their own spin-off George and Mildred, which was equally successful.

Throughout his career, the actor also featured in episodes of the ‘s Holby City, The Catherine Tate Show, and ITV’s Benidorm, before he last appearing in the Channel 5 documentary, 30 Years Of Laughs: Last Of The Summer Wine.
