A man who was in the same prison as Sara Sharif’s father has revealed the brutal violence he witnessed.
Urfan Sharif was transferred to HMP Frankland in County Durham after being attacked with a makeshift “jagged tuna lid” knife while at HMP Belmarsh, where he was serving a life sentence for the torture and murder of his daughter.
However, former inmate Ricky Killeen, who arrived at HMP Frankland at the age of 21, warns that the child killer will struggle to find peace in his new surroundings.
Killeen recalled his first impressions of the prison, telling : “My first impression of Frankland Prison was ‘WELCOME TO HELL’ inscribed inside the holding cell in reception.
“The other lads I was transferred with were terrified because of the rumours they had heard about how bad it is.”

Killeen, who claimed to be more composed due to his familiarity with the prison and its local connections, further noted: “Wakefield is the original ‘Monster Mansion’ but Frankland has become known that in the local press because it holds the worst prisoners in the country like Levi Bellfield, Ian Huntley and Wayne Couzens.”
Killeen, from Stanley, Durham, was serving an IPP (imprisonment for public protection) sentence at the Category A jail for his involvement in a machete attack.
However, he has since turned his life around and now helps other former inmates rebuild their lives.
As the author of Behind the Bars Ruthless Fitness, Killeen offered a chilling glimpse into the violence he witnessed during his time at the prison, which has also housed notorious inmates such as Peter Sutcliffe, Fred West, and Harold Shipman.
He revealed: “I witnessed loads of violence in there. The first day I was there I saw a terrorist get hot oil tipped over his head and saw his head melting. I saw numerous lads get stabbed in the neck and one got a coffee jar full of chilli powder rammed in his neck.
“There were mini riots in there when I was there as well but the hot oil incident was the worst I’ve seen.”

Concerning what Sharif will face, he said: “He can expect to be housed with some of the worst and most dangerous paedos in the country. He will be a massive target for what he’s in for and he will be looking over his shoulder.”
Ricky, who runs the Behind the Bars TV YouTube channel, was in the main wing but mentioned that the extreme violence occurred in the VP wing, which houses paedophiles and infamous murderers.
He hears of the brutality indirectly – reports of a paedophile being “disembowelled” trickled down through prison officers.
A source speaking to The Sun suggested that Sharif was snuck into Frankland Prison while others were confined to their cells, and he has been left “terrified”, practically shrinking in his cell.
This informant also disclosed that Sharif was placed in the same section as Bellfield after previously suffering an attack in Belmarsh shortly after receiving a life sentence for the murder of a ten-year-old girl.
Among the 800 detainees at Frankland, some will never experience freedom again, sharing the quarters with notable inmates like Lee Rigby’s murderer Michael Adebolajo and the killer of Rhys Jones, Sean Mercer.
