The young couple returned to where Chris grew up, in the beautiful Ribble Valley in Lancashire, but they faced a slew of challenges, ultimately knocking down the property and building a new house from scratch.

Despite terrible weather and all the complications of a new build, the couple were determined to hit their schedule and be living in their home by Christmas given Chris’ poor health.

Fans were immediately praising Chris’ positive attitude and hoping he made it to the end of the renovation.

One said: “Watching a George Clarke programme. Young guy with stage 4 cancer building a house. I hope he makes it to the end.”

Another penned: “Remarkable young guy on @c4 oddly named programme George Clarke’s Building Home. Wishing the best to enjoy a finished home.”

In George Clarke’s Building Home, the property expert meets the people uprooting their lives and testing their relationships to build the wonderful homes of their dreams, completely driven by strong emotional ties and fond memories.

George said: “A few years ago I had the simple idea of making a television series that explored our deeper, emotional connection with ‘home’.

“Home is way more than just bricks and mortar. Home is about our family, our friends, the special places where we grew up, the memories and stories created in those places, many of which make us laugh, cry or both!

“In this series we follow people who have left home years ago, moved to another part of the country or moved to another country altogether, spent a number of years away thinking they’d left ‘home’ forever, only to realise (for their very own deeply personal reasons) that there really is ‘no place like home’. They choose to return home and take on a major home building project.”
