Tiger Woods Makes First Statement Since Crash

has confirmed that his mother, Kultida, has died. The 49-year-old has released a statement on social media paying an emotional tribute to his “biggest fan,” crediting her for his career success.

“It is with heartfelt sadness that I want to share that my dear mother, Kultida Woods, passed away early this morning,” he wrote on X.

“My Mom was a force of nature all her own, her spirit was simply undeniable.

“She was quick with the needle and a laugh. She was my biggest fan, greatest supporter, without her none of my personal achievements would have been possible.

“She was loved by so many, but especially by her two grandchildren, Sam and Charlie. Thank you all for your support, prayers and privacy at this difficult time for me and my family. Love you Mom.”

Woods has previously explained it was Kultida who inspired his decision to always wear red on the final day of big tournaments. As a junior, she suggested he wore it because she believed it was his ‘power colour’ as a Capricorn.

Woods even now . And his mum was also frequently seen supporting her son at events, and was at the 18th green at in 2019 when he famously won his 15th major title.

She was also there at the venue in 2022 when Woods made an emotional return to professional golf. He had previously been out of the game for almost two years following the high-speed car crash that threatened to end his career.

American President has since reacted to the news, also taking to social media to say: “I was just informed that Tiger Woods’ wonderful mother, Kultida, has passed away – she has gone on to greener fairways!

“Kultida Woods was an amazing influence on Tiger, and gave him much strength and brilliance. Melania and I send our love and players to Tiger’s family.”

Next week, Woods is due to host the Genesis Invitational, moved to Torrey Pines in San Diego, due to the wildfires in Los Angeles County. His involvement in the tournament now appears in doubt.
