has sent royal fans into a frenzy this afternoon after she arrived to her latest royal engagement in an unusual way.

The Princess of Wales, 43, (NPG) to launch an interactive trail aimed at helping children under five develop their social and emotional skills.

The trail is part of The Royal Foundation Centre for Early Childhood’s new project, which is based on the new Shaping Us Framework announced earlier this week outlining 30 social and emotional skills that are crucial to living a healthy, happy life at all ages.

While a royal visit was exciting in itself, the princess turned heads when she stepped out of a school bus outside the gallery, which she has been patron of since 2011, rather than travel to the engagement in a royal car.

On the bus, the princess was joined by a group of four and five-year-old schoolchildren from All Souls CE Primary School, who were accompanying the princess to participate in The Bobeam Tree Trail for the first time.
