Kelsey Grammer Reveals Depth Of 30-Year Feud With Ted Danson

It looks like there wasn’t much cheer between Ted Danson and Kelsey Grammer for about 30 years.

The two “Cheers” co-stars first revealed their three-decade impasse in October on “Where Everybody Knows Your Name,” a podcast about the iconic sitcom hosted by Danson and fellow cast member Woody Harrelson.

But now the “Frasier” star is spilling more tea on what started the feud.

Grammer told the New York Post that there “really wasn’t an argument” between him and Danson, but their estrangement began during a time in his life when he “was actually going through a lot of self-doubt; self-loathing.”

He added, “Honestly. It was when I was drinking a lot.”

Grammer said that Danson was frustrated by his behavior and bluntly told him, “You know, I’m kind of mad at you that sometimes you don’t show up ready to go.”

Grammer responded with, “OK, I respect that,” and told the Post, “And that actually was sort of it.”

He now admits that “maybe what happened for Ted was he stepped away from what might have been a better friendship. Maybe he just had to protect himself. I don’t really know. But, I said, ‘Thanks.’ We were fine with that.”

Still, the two didn’t really speak for around 30 years.

Danson did take responsibility for the feud and expressed regrets during their October podcast.

“I have a memory of getting angry at you once. It’s stuck in both of our memories,” Danson said. “But I feel like I missed out on the last 30 years of Kelsey Grammer and I feel like it’s my bad, my doing, and I almost feel like apologizing to you.”

“No, I don’t feel like — I apologize to you and me that I sat back, you know, and didn’t. And I really do apologize,” Danson added.

Grammer said he appreciated the apology and also wished they had “spent some more time together,“ before telling Danson, “My love for you has always been as easy as the day. As easy as the sunrise.”
