ITV The Chase player bursts into tears as worried Bradley Walsh forced to intervene

host was forced to intervene after one player burst into tears live on air.

During Tuesday’s visit to the show, the former star welcomed four hopefuls onto the teatime show. The 64-year-old welcomed Sandra, Laurence, Marlon and Kate onto the show to put their general knowledge to the test.

The quartet went up against Shaun ‘The Dark Destroyer’ Wallace who certainly brought his A-game to the table. First up to the podium was Sandra, who struggled to keep up with the criminal barrister.

After eliminating Sandra, Laurence was next to face off against the professional quizzer, also 64, who only managed to rake in a pittiful £2,000 in the cash builder round. Understandable, the star wasn’t satisfied with his performance and chose the high offer of £30,000.

It’s fair to say he performed much better at the podium than he did on the quick-fire round and successfully managed to secure his place in the final chase with the eye-watering jackpot.

Next in the hotseat was Marlon, who took full advantage of the significant haul, opting to play for -£5,000 to secure his position in the final round.

Finally, Bradley welcomed Kate up to the podium, who also opted to follow a similar stratagey after she earned £2,000 in the cash builder round. But it’s fair to say the TV star was shocked and exclaimed “Good Lord” when Kate decided to ignore the advice from her fellow teammates and played for the higer amount of £50,000.

Against all odds, Kate managed to defeat the Chaser and secured her spot in the last round, much to her surpise as she became overwhelmed with emotion and burst into to tears.

It was at this point that Bradley stepped in to offer some support and congratulated her on her win before advising her to compose herself for the final round.

In the final round, the team were vying to keep their whopping £75,000 but unfortunately couldn’t replicate their head-to-head success.

They managed to correctly answer 15 questions in two minutes but the Chaser caught out with just 36 seconds left on the clock.

The Chase airs on weekdays from 5pm on ITV1 or catch up on ITVX.
