“Daily Show” host Jon Stewart on Monday put President Donald Trump and the rest of the MAGA Republicans on blast for their obsessive attacks on diversity, equity and inclusion programs.
“What they’re trying to do is make the default setting on competence in America a white guy,” Stewart said. “That’s what this is: a reset to the factory default.”
Stewart rolled footage of attacks on DEI by Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth ― a former Fox News weekend host who faced a series of allegations regarding drinking and sexual misconduct ― and Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy, a former reality TV star.
“Because of course, these two are there purely based on merit and smarts,” he said sarcastically. “It undercuts every Black person, person of color, woman, in this country that the job that they have, they don’t deserve.”
Stewart let out an expletive: “FUCK!”
He said this new “mantra” of the Republican Party leads to “brain-turning” moments of hypocrisy, then played a clip of Lara Trump insisting that Americans succeed “by merit and merit alone.”
Trump, a former co-chair of the Republican National Committee, is married to Eric Trump, a son of the president.
Stewart called Trump administration members such as Hegseth and Duffy “DEI hires” because of “one particular identity that they posses: the ass-kisser.”
He rolled video of the two delivering over-the-top praise of Trump.
“DEI,” Stewart said, summing it up. “Dick-sucking ego inflation.”
