Pet owners are being warned about a popular product

The Office for Product Safety and Standards (OPSS) has flagged the product, which was sold on , for failing to meet the Electrical Equipment (Safety) Regulations 2016.
The product in question is the Pet Cage & Pet Heating Pad, an electrical appliance identified on Amazon as FBA15JRTQ12WU000030 with the SKU X0022XXMLF.
Manufactured in China, the product is an incubator box for pets with an installed heating pad.
The OPSS has highlighted multiple hazards associated with this product, including the risk of electric shock due to exposed wiring, burn hazards from unguarded heating radiators, and a choking hazard posed by a temperature and humidity indicator containing a button cell battery.

The product has a serious risk of electric shock
A spokesperson for the OPSS stated that the product presents a serious risk of electric shock as the instructions do not adequately ensure that wires are kept out of reach of pets.
If a pet is placed in the crate and left unsupervised with accessible wires, they may bite through them, leading to a potentially dangerous electric shock.
Additionally, the heating radiators are not properly guarded, leaving hot surfaces exposed and increasing the risk of burns.
The included temperature and humidity indicator poses further dangers, as it contains a button cell battery which, if swallowed, could cause internal burns.
