Sara Davies, the dynamic TV entrepreneur and Dragons’ Den star, is back on TV with her new series The Big Idea Works. Touted as a blend of Dragons’ Den’s investment savvy and The Repair Shop’s inventive repair magic, Davies, alongside a crack team of engineers, brings to life the dreams of hopeful inventors.
Among the ingenious creations featured are a “sugar pen” for detecting drink sugar levels, an innovative mess-free bird feeder, and a pillow designed to quell snoring. The 16-episode show makes its big entrance at 2pm on Monday (February 2) and will also be available subsequently on iPlayer.
Birthed from the ‘s strategy to invest in content creation beyond the capital city and driven by Sara Davies’ fierce ambition to enrich the creative industry in her beloved North East, the programme promises to fuel the aspirations of burgeoning inventors. Davies, who amassed her millions with the success of Crafter’s Companion, is on a mission to mentor others towards their entrepreneurial goals.
The series is the latest project for the TV businesswoman, who joined Dragons’ Den and became the show’s youngest ever female investor. She later took part in with partner Aljaž Škorjanec in the 2021 series.

Sara has undergone a physical transformation since her Strictly journey, and has lost upwards of 3st thanks to a new appreciation of exercise, and is now a “really happy size 14”.
She previously credited her weight loss to a fibre-rich diet under The Fibre First method. She wanted to have a grip on her wait in her 40s after being diagnosed with gestational diabetes.
She said: “I had gestational diabetes in both my pregnancies and as I was leaving the hospital, the nurse told me, ‘If you don’t get a handle on your weight, you will have type 2 diabetes in 10 years.’
“Every year since I’ve had my blood glucose levels checked and every year I’ve seen that number creep up and up towards the pre-diabetic area.

Since her stint on , Sara has shed more than 3st, attributing her success to a newfound love for exercise and becoming a “really happy size 14”.
She added: “Then, two years ago, the doctor told me, ‘This is getting a little bit out of hand, by this time next year you’ll be pre-diabetic.’ It was the kick up the bum I needed.”
Who is Sara Davies married to?
Sara is happily married to Simon, her childhood sweetheart whom she wed in 2007. The couple, who started dating at the tender age of 15, have two children together—Oliver, aged 11, and Charlie, aged eight.
Simon has been a pillar of support, having left his job to help Sara with her burgeoning business. Despite her busy career, Sara took three months maternity leave after Oliver’s birth and then returned to work part-time, three days a week.

Sara Davies, the entrepreneurial star, has opened up about her 25-year-long relationship with her husband, expressing nothing but adoration and gratitude for his unwavering support. “Even after 25 years, I still absolutely idolise the ground he walks on,” she confessed to The Mirror.
“I’m a firm believer that you become a product of the people you surround yourself with, and I know I’m a better person because of his influence on me, and I know I make him a better person as well.
“There is an absolutely unbreakable trust between us, and I think that’s the foundation for any successful marriage.”

Sara currently lives in a luxury home in Durham with her family. Sara has previously shared shots of the house on her social media, which includes a luxury room dedicated to her passion for crafting.
The kitchen has cream units and black granite worktops with a large island unit in the middle. Windows look onto her garden and there is a dining table on the other side of the open-plan space.
Outside the home is a massive garden with luscious grounds.
