A red carpet interview at the Grammys went viral for all the wrong reasons on Sunday.
A pair of reporters from The Associated Press abruptly ended their interview with R&B icon Babyface after catching a glimpse of another musical artist.
AP journalist Leslie Ambriz had just asked 13-time Grammy winner Babyface about artists experimenting with genre-bending styles when her fellow red carpet correspondent, Krysta Fauria, noticed singer Chappell Roan walking behind him.
“I think it’s interesting —,” Babyface answered as a clearly distracted Fauria peered behind him.
“Chappell! Chappell!” she then shouted over him.
“You guys want to…,” Babyface trailed off as he turned around and noticed Roan whirling by.
“Go do that,” he conceded before handing the microphone to Ambriz and walking away.
“So sorry, Babyface,” said Ambriz while Fauria laughed and Roan walked up to the pair.
Though the pair would later apologize to Babyface during the AP’s red carpet coverage, social media users were appalled by the moment and the “CRAZY” disrespect the reporters showed.
