have been urged to launch a last-minute hijack of striker Evan Ferguson’s imminent move to . The 20-year-old looks set to join West Ham on loan until the end of the season on deadline day while the Red Devils desperately search for a striker.
Ferguson burst onto the scene at the Amex Stadium under Robert De Zerbi, but he has slipped down the pecking order since Fabian Hurzeler’s arrival.
After emerging as one of the ‘s most exciting young talents last season, he has started just two such games this term.
And Ferguson now looks set to join Graham Potter’s ranks at the London Stadium before the clock strikes 11pm on deadline day.
However, Clinton Morrison, a former Republic of Ireland striker, has backed United to make a stunning late push to sign his compatriot.
“Listen, Evan Ferguson’s talented. I’m surprised that there aren’t a lot more clubs looking at him,” Morrison told Express Sport.
“Because obviously he’s been stop-start at Brighton, he’s had a lot of injuries, but we saw when he burst onto the scene [how good he can be].

“He’s still at a young age, why not? He’s young; he’s got great potential; why not Man United? You probably could get him for a good deal, and you can still go and sign someone like Viktor Gyokeres in the summer as well.
“But in this window, I think there should be more clubs looking at Evan Ferguson. I like him. He holds the ball up while he can run in behind; he scores goals.
“So it’d be a great addition for anyone. West Ham, his old manager, Graham Potter, they’re interested. But Man United need a centre forward in this January window.
“You’re not going to get Victor Gyokeres, who’s going to cost a lot of money. I’d go and get Evan Ferguson.
“Because Evan Ferguson fits the way they want to play at Man United. So it’d be a good sign in that.”
While a last-ditch swoop for Ferguson appears unlikely, will hope to bolster his attacking firepower before the deadline.
Bayern Munich striker Mathys Tel has emerged as a leading target and is believed to want a move to Old Trafford.
However, the Bundesliga giants’ demand for a permanent deal or obligation to buy has so far been a sticking point in negotiations.
