In 2005, Linda was diagnosed with breast cancer and was given the all-clear in 2011. However, devastating news came a year later when the cancer returned, identified in her hip bone and pelvis, ultimately escalating to incurable secondary breast cancer which Linda disclosed in 2023 had progressed to her brain.

On January 15, it was announced that Linda had died at the age of 65 amongst loved ones. Emotions ran high the next day on Loose Women, with Christine Lampard visibly moved, reports

She reflected: “We’ve been talking about Linda for so long with Coleen, and I know it was an incredibly tough time for the family, but you’re just never prepared.”

Nadia Sawalha, a fellow star, shared her grief, saying: “Nothing prepares because there is a moment when the light goes out, and when the light goes out, that is the most awful shock. They’ve been through so much as a family, sending all our love.”

St Paul’s Church in Blackpool was filled with friends, family, and celebrities for Linda’s funeral service over the weekend— a poignant ceremony honouring the late star, who had previously exchanged wedding vows at the same church with her beloved husband Brian Hudson.

The streets were lined with mourners and members of the public showing their respects, with locals even offering refreshments for those gathered.
