Comedy series fans binge ‘in three days’ soon streaming for free

An award-winning British comedy is set to be available for free streaming from next month.

The super-powered sitcom, Extraordniary, will join the ITVX library from March 6.

Currently, it’s part of a paid-for subscription with Disney+, but soon it will be accessible at no extra cost, potentially attracting more viewers.

Although the first season was previously on ITVX, it doesn’t currently appear in search results. However, the broadcaster has confirmed that a full series boxset will be available next month, hopefully including the follow-up instalment.

The show, set in a world where everyone develops a superpower at 18, centres on Jen, who after six years, still hasn’t discovered her ability.

The hit series Extraordinary has been sweeping the charts with its unique blend of gritty reality and superhero chaos. As Jizzlord confronts his tumultuous past, the show also delves into the aftermath of Carrie and Kash’s breakup, depicting their awkward cohabitation and the myth of the “clean break”.

Captivating audiences, both Seasons 1 and 2 have achieved a rare 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, clinching the title of Best Comedy Programme at the 2023 Broadcast Digital Awards.

Fans have taken to social media to express their adoration for the show, with one fan enthusing: “I love the Misfits vibe of this show. Showing that superpowers are not always wonderful.”

Another eager fan commented: “One of the best new shows I’ve seen – binged season 1 and 2 in less than a 3 days. I highly recommend this amazing British sci-fi comedy.”

And yet another chimed in with praise, stating: “Extraordinary perfectly balances humour and heartfelt moments seamlessly, making it easy to fall in love with every character individually and the group as a whole.”

The clamour for more episodes is growing, and one viewer confidently stated: “Incredible comedy! Absolutely love this show and its characters. Don’t think I’ve fallen in love and laughed at a show this much in a long time. I recommend to anyone and everyone, it’s a much watch.”

Regrettably, these will be the concluding episodes of the series that fans can savour. Despite its critical acclaim, Variety has reported that the show will not be making a comeback for a third season.

The report further stated that the original UK production was axed alongside the series Shardlake.

Extraordinary is streaming now on Disney+ and from March 6 on ITVX.
