BBC Escape to the Country buyer halts property search as she says ‘no point’

A buyer on Escape to the Country called off the house viewing mere minutes into the session, exclaiming, “No point carrying on.”

During Monday’s (February 3) instalment of the favourite, Denise Nurse teamed up with Phil and Jo. After 25 years, the London couple were eager to swap city life for the tranquil woodlands of Hampshire.

With £625,000 in their pockets, they were on the hunt for a three-bedroom charmer brimming with character, situated within a village that embraced country walks and convenient train access for London commutes.

Opening up about what they wanted, Phil mentioned: “Hopefully, there’ll be a local pub or somewhere where we can meet some of the locals and start to fit in with the community. We’re hoping it’ll be just the perfect way to spend our retirement years.”

Determined to impress, Denise lined up a selection of properties for viewing. But it was a picturesque Wiltshire cottage that captured their hearts, reports .

Thatched and detached, the home boasted three sizable bedrooms, a snug reception, and the bonus of a sun room. Sweetening the deal, Denise announced that the dreamy dwelling was actually under budget at only £600,000.

The revelation left the pair speechless, prompting Jo’s decisive reaction: “Wow. Right, that’s it, then. There’s no point in carrying on.”

Phil joined in with infectious enthusiasm: “I’m feeling very excited, to be honest. It’s got everything we hoped for. It’s got character in spades, and the garden is lovely.”

Jo expressed her delight, stating: “We hoped for a thatched house but I don’t think I expected one to be as nice as this within our budgets, so I’m absolutely delighted.”

Showing appreciation for Denise’s assistance during their hunt, Jo continued: “Love Denise. We loved her before. We said before that we loved her before and she’s our favourite. Phil chimed in: “She’s always been our favourite presenter, but she is even higher up now.”

Despite being smitten with the property, the couple chose not to place an offer as they disclosed that they hadn’t yet sold their existing home.

Phil confessed: “We haven’t got an offer on our place that we’re selling. As soon as we do, then that will be a very real possibility to move, yes.”
