Major UK cities across the country could be blanketed in heavy snow
A 727-mile snow wall stretching from Wick in Scotland to Devon could soon blanket the nation as Arctic conditions make their way towards the UK, according to weather maps.
WXCHARTS generated on February 1 have turned purple and white, suggesting that is on its way, with nearly all of the UK predicted to be blanketed by it.
across the country including London, Cardiff, Swansea, Newcastle, York Edinburgh and Glasgow will all see snow fall on February 16, the maps show.
Scotland looks set to receive the brunt of the heavy snow, which is set to start falling at 6pm on Sunday, February 16, according to the maps.
Upto seven centimetres of snow is likely to fall per hour in Perth and Kinross and Stirling. Meanwhile, various parts of the country will see between one to four centimetres of snow every hour.
Arctic conditions are making their way towards the UK
England will not miss out on seeing heavy snow fall, as the northeast alongside Yorkshire and the Humber are predicted to have one centimetre of snow to fall every hour. Snow depths in the northwest are likely to reach five centimetres.
The snow shows no sign of easing off as we make our way down the UK to north Wales, mid Wales, and the west of England. Between one and two centimetres of snow could fall per hour in these areas.
Parts of south and west Wales will also see flurries of snow. Only a small section of Wales will miss out on catching a glimpse of some snowflakes.
London and the southeast will not escape the snow, the maps suggest, heading towards the UK, as one centimetre of snow could fall per hour here.
Parts of the southwest will escape the snowfall, with Plymouth predicted to see heavy rain. However, snow will even fall as far south as Devon, according to the maps.

As we go into the early hours of Monday, February 17, the snow is only predicted to get heavier. Parts of Scotland could be blasted with seven centimetres of snow per hour whilst every part of the UK apart from the southeest and the East of England will see snow continuing to fall.

Separately, in the ‘s long-range weather forecast for this period, the meteorological service is warning that “temperatures may be below average” with overnight frosts.
The forecaster said: “It is most likely that high pressure will dominate at first in some form or another, but there is a weak signal for a more unsettled spell in the second half of the month, before signals become indistinguishable from climatology by the start of March.
“Temperatures may be below average at first, with overnight frosts, but could return to near average or even rise a little above average later.”
