The UK’s upcoming and car ban will make it more difficult to own and drive , according to leading motoring experts.

explained: “Classic cars using petrol or diesel will not be banned when legislative changes happen in 2035. It’s likely that the rising uptake of EVs will present a challenge to classic car drivers in the future. 

“You may see an increase of electric charging stations while the availability of petrol and diesel stations could decrease, making it more difficult to drive classic cars reliably.”

The move could be a major blow for the owners of the over 300,000 classic cars registered in the UK.

Classics can be modified to run on electric power but the process costs thousands of pounds and is unattainable for many.

The number of petrol stations is already on the decline with 35% closing between 2000 and 2021 with around 8,000 now available across the whole UK. 

However, some leading experts are confident that classic vehicles are not under threat anytime soon. 

Vintage and Sports Car Finance experts at have also previously claimed the ban would “not impact” the sector in any way. 

They stressed these cars would “remain highly valuable, highly attractive assets” even after the ban comes into effect.

Wheeler Dealers TV presenter Mike Brewer previously predicted would still be able to top-up their cars decades from now.

Previously speaking to Express.co.uk, Mike said: “​​Nothing is going to happen. Nothing is going to change for the classic car owners.

“Come 2050 I will be able to drive my Porsche 911 and go to a petrol station and put unleaded fuel in it. Nothing will change.”
