Spandau Ballet rocker Gary Kemp revealed he was reduced to tears over a family realisation during therapy. His wife Lauren suggested he should try therapy after noticing a dip in his mood during
Kemp booked a consultation, but the 65-year-old was floored when he realised he still hadn’t grieved properly for his parents. His parents tragically died within two days of each other in 2009.
He told The Times: “It was all fine until the therapist said: ‘Tell me a bit about your family,’ and that was it. I couldn’t talk for 10 minutes.
“I just fell apart. My parents, my life? So many things I haven’t grieved for properly.”
The singer married costume designer Lauren in 2003. They share three sons – Milo Wolf, Kit and Rex. Kemp also has another son Finley with his first wife, the actress Sadie Frost.

Kemp shared that when he received the itinerary he realised something was wrong. His first thought wasn’t about the gigs, hotels or cities he would be exploring but instead he was worrying about what could go wrong on the tour.
He said: “My first thought was: ‘Which one of these places is where I die?’ I mean, that’s some deep anxiety, right? I’m a worrier by nature but this was something else.”

Kemp hit the big time with new wave band Spandau Ballet along with his younger brother , 63, and Tony Hadley among others. He admits that some fans of the band were ‘really over the top’ during its heyday with one stalker leaving a sheep’s head on his doorstep and defacing a former girlfriend’s car with slogans.

His new solo album, This Destination, was released yesterday (Friday, January 31).
