RCMP say a fight broke out at the John B Pub, where a man was stabbed outside. Two people have been arrested.
A 35-year-old man is dead and two men have been arrested after a stabbing outside a Coquitlam pub Friday night.
RCMP say shortly before 10 p.m., officers responded to a report of a fight outside the John B Pub, located at 1000 Austin Ave.
Bystanders provided first aid to the man while they waited for the paramedics to arrive, according to the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team.
Paramedics then arrived and tried to save his life but he died.
Two men believed to be involved in the fight were arrested and are in police custody. IHIT has taken over the investigation.
Police believe this is an isolated incident. The victim’s identity is not being released on request of his family, IHIT said in a news release Saturday.
“Investigators will be in the area processing the crime scene, canvassing for witnesses and collecting video evidence,” says Sgt. Freda Fong, a spokesperson for IHIT.
“We believe there are several witnesses to the fight who have yet to speak with police and we are asking them to contact us as soon as possible.”
Anyone with CCTV or dashcam footage in the area of the John B Pub or Charland Avenue during this time is asked to contact IHIT.
