Former goalkeeper Michel Vorm believes that three young talents can only benefit from the club’s injury crisis and dismal campaign.

Lucas Bergvall, Archie Gray started once again, as they have grown accustomed to doing, while Mikey Moore came in for Dejan Kulusevski as the Swede was given a rare rest on the bench.

Moore put the cherry on top of the win, after goals from substitutes Dane Scarlett and Oyindamola Ajayi, and Vorm believes that Moore and the other two young starters will flourish as a result of their regular playing time.

“They are all very talented players and this extended run in the team will do them so well for the future,” Vorm said of Begvall, Gray and Moore to Express Sport with . “They all have a bright future and they are getting a lot of game time.

“They are learning them a lot and it will benefit them in their career for sure. To come through this period will have done them a lot of good, and you can tell they aren’t phased by playing in all the competitions they are and if Spurs can invest in players in the summer, these three players especially will be crucial to the future of the club.”

Gray has been a mainstay in the Spurs back four, filling in at every position but mainly at centre-back. He has made 29 appearances already this season after leaving at the age of 18.

Bergvall, another 18-year-old, has made 28 appearances and brought a fresh energy to the midfield. Moore is beginning to flourish up front and bagged his first goal of the season, making a considerable impact at just 17.

Vorm, who spent six years at Spurs, is of the opinion that the trio can be the future of the club.

And Postecoglou could not stop himself from gushing over his young stars after they excelled in Europe. “I just said it was made in tonight,” Postecoglou noted after Scarlett, Ajayi and Moore all got their first senior goals.

“It’s brilliant for the club and I’m sure there are academy coaches and players who won’t sleep tonight because they are pretty excited.

“We kind of knew we would have to rely on some young players tonight, and all the way through this campaign to be honest.

“I thought they stood up really well. The whole group played well but we were going to need some young boys to make an impact and not just the three goalscorers.

“We had a couple of 18-year-olds in there as well who continue to drive us on. So it is a great night for the club and something the whole academy should be proud of.”
