She rose to fame in the mid-noughties with her hilairous  sitcom, Miranda.

Since then, Miranda Hart has gone from strength as one of the nation’s favourite comedy actors. From to blockbusters, the 57-year-old star is all over our screens.

Last year, the brunette beauty threw her support behind her co-star who made it all the way to the final with her dance partner Vito Coppola – and even shared her all-important dance moves.

But it hasn’t always been plain sailing for the TV star, who recently opened up about her health battle with Lyme disease in her memoir, Miranda Hart: I Haven’t Been Entirely Honest with You.

The beloved comedian tied the knot in a low-key ceremony in July last year. Miranda first crossed paths with her husband during lockdown when she hired him to treat mould in her West London home.

What started as a professional encounter quickly blossomed into a love story. Fondly referring to him as “the mould man,” Miranda recalled how their first date saw them chatting for hours in her living room over pizza.

Speaking at Cheltenham Literature Festival, the star revealed the identity of her mystery man and the early months of their relationship.

She told the crowd: “Unfortunately, mine had shunted its way across the box and turned into a calzone. I was going on and on about my shunted pizza and it did not seem to faze him.

“We had already been talking for about two hours at this point, and I realised almost immediately that I was in love with him.”

Despite Miranda’s pizza mishap, Richard was smitten and returned for a second date. The couple’s romance continued to grow, culminating in a romantic proposal at Kew Gardens, West London.

They decided to tie the knot at St Peter and St Paul Church in Hambledon, Hampshire, on July 6, celebrating with a Hawaiian-themed party afterward.

Speaking on , Miranda gushed about her husband, saying: “He’s my best friend, we have the best fun, and I’m just thrilled to be a young bride at 51.”

She added: “The fact that I met someone during a pandemic, during chronic illness when I couldn’t get out of bed or get out of the house… It’s hope, there is always hope, things can always change.”

Richard, 60, is the director of The Building Consultancy and is based in Bristol. He was previously married to Jeanne Speight for over 25 years, with whom he shares two children.

Miranda has now become a stepmother to his kids, marking yet another new chapter in her life. The actress, who has been out of the media spotlight for almost a decade, has faced her share of struggles, including a lengthy battle with undiagnosed Lyme disease and myalgic encephalomyelitis (ME).

She has also spoken about dealing with agoraphobia, anxiety, and panic attacks since her university years. In her autobiography, she opened up about these challenges and shared her joy at finding love later in life.

The actress wrote: “The fact that I could meet somebody is not some kind of rom-com story, but it’s hope,” she wrote. “There is always hope.”

The pair have since been spotted enjoying a bike ride near Miranda’s £4 million London home, with the comedian teasing fans on after confirming her marriage. In a playful post, she showed off her gold wedding ring and said, “I’ve got my best friend to do life with, and it’s wonderful.”
