UK weather maps show 36 hours of snow as far south as London and Sussex

The UK is bracing for yet another period of unsettled weather as weather maps suggest and rain may soon sweep the country.

New maps generated on January 31 by WXCHARTS, which uses MetDesk data, revealed the wintry conditions are due to

Starting in the afternoon on January 13 and continuing throughout January 14, localised dustings are due to crop up around the UK.

From midnight on Valentine’s Day, of Sussex, Essex, Norfolk, Cumberland, the Scottish Borders, and North Wales, weather maps show.

These pockets of snow are due to fall at rates between 0.2-0.6cm/hr but will become more widespread into the early hours of the morning.

By 6am on February 14, large stretches of the country from the Scottish Highlands are expected to have seen snow.

from north to south, the weather front will also extend from east to west, from Suffolk in England to the Brecon Beacons in Wales.

Levels are due to remain low up and down the country, staying around the 1cm mark, accumulating at roughly 0.3cm/hr.

Ireland is also due to be affected, for example in Dublin, County Waterford, and County Laois.

The forecast for February 5-14 reads: “It is likely to be much more settled across the much of the UK at first with plenty of clear or sunny spells, and whilst some rain is likely at times, there is likely to be plenty of dry weather through this period.

“Winds will generally be lighter and this will bring the risk of overnight frost and fog to many central and southern parts.

“Towards the end of this period there is a greater chance of unsettled conditions returning, especially in the north and west of the UK whilst southeastern parts more likely to be drier.

“Overall, temperatures will be close to normal for most, but it is likely to be mild at times in the northwest. Brief colder spells are likely here in between weather systems though.”
