Two royals confirm attendance at Prince Harry’s Invictus Games next month

Prince Joachim and Princess Marie of will attend ‘s Invictus Games in Canada this year, it has been announced.

King Frederik’s younger brother will visit this year’s event, from 8 to 16 February.

are set to visit Canada from February 14 until February 15.

An announcement on the royal family’s website read: “Prince Joachim and Princess Marie will attend the Invictus Games 2025, Vancouver, Canada.”

Joachim and Marie relocated from their home in France to Washington in the summer of 2023 due to Prince Joachim’s new job at the Danish Embassy under the Ministry of Defense.

It followed a decision made back in 2022 by Queen Margrethe, who decided that four of her eight grandchildren would no longer hold royal titles.

The decision meant that Joachim’s four children, Count Nikolai, Count Felix, Count Henrik and Countess Athena, stopped being styled as Prince or Princess and His/Her Highness from January 2023 but remained in line to the throne.

Neither prince can carry out royal duties on behalf of the crown; however, in contrast to Harry, Joachim is not estranged from his family.

Last year, Queen Margrethe’s son attended the accession festivities of his brother, now King Frederik X, on January 14 after their mother’s shock abdication announcement in 2023.

He was pictured hugging Frederik as they made their way into Parliament the following day.

It will not be the first time the Danish prince meets with the Duke of Sussex.

The two princes met in 2017, when Harry visited Copenhagen for an engagement at a military training centre.

He also met with the family of 21-year-old Morten Krogh Jensen – a Danish soldier whose body was flown back with the duke from Afghanistan.

He is thought to have partially inspired Harry to set up the Invictus Games – an international sporting event for wounded, injured and sick veterans.

No members of the British Royal Family have announced their attendance at this year’s Games. ‘s wife, , will attend the annual event.
