After the Trojan Women: Inspired by Euripides’ 415 BCE classic about the costs of war, Alma Theatre presented by Common Ground Arts tells the story of three modern Syrian women going through a mystical storm, finding themselves face to face with women in ancient Troy preparing for a fateful voyage to Greece.

Lizz Hobbs directs this Amena Shehab- and Joanna Blundell-written play, with a cast including Tatiana Duque, Michelle Todd, Annette Loiselle and more.

It runs 2.5 hours with an intermission, and the age recommendation is 16 and up.

Laila Biali: This effervescent Juno winner brings back her popular Joni Mitchell & The Great Canadian Songbook project for her Prairie tour finale in St. Albert.

Mitchell, Leonard Cohen, Jane Siberry and Bruce Cockburn all are jazzily embraced — wonder if she ever does Bob & Doug’s 12 Days of Christmas? “Two turtlenecks!” Either way, Canadiana fans are sure to be pleased with the warm feelings up for grabs here in that rare national thing of which we can all be proud: our legacy of songs that travelled the world over and will likely endure for centuries.

Now and Then: Felice’s latest show of up-and-coming artists has an intentionally retro theme, with plenty of cats and mushrooms thrown in for good measure, all for sale for cheap.

Kira Hunt, Patricia Zentilli, Eoshanelle Francisco, Robin Good, Jani Galarneau, Colette Bachand, Jan Xu, Silhee Jin, Kelly Perl, Agatha Chacinski and Kirra Kent are the show’s artists, best enjoyed with a hot drink in this dreamy, New York-style loft café full of natural light and welcoming vibes.
