Swansea captain Matt Grimes is on the verge of signing for Coventry

Grimes racked up more than 300 first-team appearances during a decade-long stint with the Swans, who are determined to replace him before the January transfer window slams shut.
Express Sport understands that Swansea chiefs are weighing up moves for either star Josh Sheehan, man Luca Connell or skipper Hector Kyprianou in a bid to replace Grimes.
Sheehan is a full Welsh international and previously spent 13 years on Swansea’s books. He left for Newport County in 2018 after making only one senior appearance, and has since spent the last three years at Bolton.
The 29-year-old is the most experienced player of the trio in Swansea’s crosshairs and a creative influence in the middle of the park. This season he has laid on four assists for Bolton in the third tier, having scored twice and created 12 goals last campaign.
Connell is another player with a Bolton connection, having come through their academy before being picked up by Celtic. The 23-year-old is enjoying a superb season at Barnsley, supporting their play-off push as captain with six goal contributions in 26 league games.

Kyprianou is a more physical presence than the other two, standing at 6ft 4in tall. The 23-year-old has been a regular for Peterborough this season and boasts 10 caps for Cyprus. He previously had a spell with Leyton Orient after spending time in ‘s youth ranks.
Swansea has been a hotbed of transfer activity this winter and manager Luke Williams could be in store for a busy final few days of the window. Ex-Fulham, Middlesbrough and Derby man Cyrus Christie has been brought in on a free transfer, with Hannes Delcroix arriving on loan from Burnley.
Andy Fisher, Josh Thomas and Nathan Broome have all been shipped out on loan, and Azeem Abdulai has joined Leyton Orient permanently. Grimes is set to be the next permanent exit, with a deal agreed between Swansea and Coventry.
The Swans marked his upcoming departure with a blunt , which read: “Swansea City has accepted a bid from a Championship club for the transfer of Matt Grimes. Following discussions, Matt Grimes expressed his desire to move on and the club has respected his wishes.”
Swansea are currently 17th in the Championship table and seven points clear of the relegation zone.
