fans have been left completely baffled by one player’s unusual strategy on the ITV gameshow, dubbing it “totally pointless”.

A slew of hopefuls joined host Stephen Mulhern on Friday (January 31) for the chance to bring a coveted red box to the table and take on the banker.

Recruitment worker Amy from Essex was seen throwing in her hands in the air with excitement after her name was randomly selected by the beloved host.

But as her game began she was seen pulling out a piece of paper, asStephen inquired: “You’ve got a piece of paper there, is that the plan of attack?”

She went on the explain the paper was in fact a detailed strategy for choosing which boxes to eliminate. Amy explained: “It is, it’s the plan of action.

“The first five boxes don’t hold any significance to me so I’m just gunna bang bang bang they’re gone. After that, I’m going to take out the boxes based on either an age…

“Each of these boxes represents a memory form my past that I want to let go of and the box opening is going to be like letting go of it – move on.”

It didn’t take long before fans flooded to X – formerly known as Twitter – to share their thoughts on the baffling plan online. One user penned: “Another one with a strategy written down… another loony with a plan on a piece of paper give me strength.”

Another joked: “Having a piece of paper to decide what numbers you’re picking…it’s really super effective.” A third penned: “Another player with a “strategy. Totally pointless!” while a fourth added: “Oh ffs what a ridiculous theory.”

Unfortunately for Amy her strategy didn’t prove to be very fruitful as she quicky took out the £100k in the second round.

The big reds kept coming in thick and fast, before she was left with just £25k and £5k in the red column and £1, £10 and £750 in the blue column.

Amy did manage to beat the banker, accepting an offer of £3,855 before revealing she has just £1 in her box.

Fans commented on the final results, posting on X: “Stephen Mullen “Amy, you’ve smashed it” It’s £3,855!! Hardly life changing is it.”

“Tbf she took the most she could out of the game…..which is the only strategy you need….no vibes, no feelings, no strategy of picking numbers, just deal at the right time,” penned another and “My list would be, 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 to pick (in that order). Minus the box I picked of course. No lucky numbers, no special dates etc. Just get s**t done, then take what I end up with.”
