Champions League draw confirmed as Man City and Celtic handed nightmare ties

The draw for the knockout playoff phase of this season’s Champions League has been made, with and Celtic learning their path to the round of 16.

Both clubs failed to secure automatic qualification to the knockout stages after missing out on a top-eight finish in the all-new league phase.

Only the teams who finished from ninth to 24th were involved in today’s draw, with the top eight clubs going straight through to the round of 16.

will face Real Madrid over two legs for a place in the knockout stages, while Celtic will go up against Bayern Munich in a huge test for the Scottish giants.

Another exciting tie will see Paris Saint-Germain take on Brest, with the two French sides on a collision course. Juventus have been drawn against PSV Eindhoven, while Borussia Dortmund will face Sporting.

Monaco will need to get past Benfica to reach the knockout stages, while AC Milan will play Feyenoord and Atalanta will entertain Club Brugge.

will be looking for sweet revenge over Real Madrid, who beat them on their way to winning the Champions League last season. It is the fourth campaign in a row that the two clubs have met in Europe’s most prestigious competition.
