Renée Zellweger has told how she will sprint for a mile three times a week to cope with herniated discs.
The superstar returns to cinemas this year with the fourth instalment of . She revealed she keeps with her mile-long sprints and sit-ups to alleviate her issue.
Speaking to Vogue, said: “I’ll sprint a mile. Not every day. Three times a week. I have to. I have herniated discs.”
According to the , a herniated disc – also called a slipped disc – happens when a soft cushion of tissue between the bones in your spine bulges outwards. It can cause lower , neck pain, muscle weakness and problems bending or straightening your back among other things.

Renée has already starred as Bridget Jones three times – taking on the title role in the original film in 2001, followed by sequels in 2004 and 2016. Each appearance required her to gain and lose a substantial amount of weight in a short time.
The superstar also revealed why she took a hiatus from acting between 2010 and 2016, returning to the silver screen for Bridget Jones’s Baby.
She said: “Because I needed to. I was sick of the sound of my own voice. When I was working, I was like: ‘Oh my gosh listen to you. Are you sad again, Renée? Oh, is this your mad voice?’ It was a regurgitation of the same emotional experiences.”

Talking about what she did during her six-year break, she said: “I wrote music and studied international law.
“I built a house, rescued a pair of older doggies, created a partnership that led to a production company, advocated for and fundraised for a sick friend, and spent a lot of time with family and godchildren and driving across the country with the dogs. I got healthy.”
Renée is a guest on The Graham Norton Show tonight (Friday, January 31) at 10.40pm on One. Also on the show are actor Leo Woodall, who also stars in Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy, and fellow actors Sterling K Brown and Anthony Mackie, and pop icon Cyndi Lauper.
The actress said she has her ‘fingers crossed’ that Mad About the Boy won’t be the final time we see Bridget Jones on the big screen.
