The judge appears on the programme alongside host , hoping to raise money for his chosen charity, The Sick Children’s Trust.

Anton, 58, breezes through the initial rounds but stumbles on a question about dance and musicals, risking thousands of pounds for his charity.

Jeremy, 64, told : “When that cropped up, I thought well ‘this was tailor made for you’ and then it wasn’t. It’s a bit like me not knowing a Nico Rosberg question.”

An insider revealed that what transpired during and after the £32,000 question was unprecedented in the celebrity version of the series.

The source told the publication: “Anton does something we have never seen before on the show and high stakes are involved. He seemed shocked at the end of his game and the studio audience were too.”

Fans will need to watch the episode to see exactly what unfolds.

Jeremy introduces Anton to the show by joking that he was “known for being paired with older celebrities who couldn’t dance, so I’ll be right at home with me”.

When quizzed if he’d return the favour by gracing the Strictly dance floor, the former Top Gear presenter declared: “No. I loathe dancing, I truly loathe dancing. I have danced.

“But I will only dance to ‘Modern Love’ by David Bowie and only if I’ve had every single drop of alcohol in a place! So, it’s not actually dancing, it’s mostly not falling over is all I’m actually doing. People think I’m dancing but it isn’t, it’s just me trying to stay up!”
