has issued updates on nine injured players with his Tottenham squad ravaged by issues ahead of this weekend’s game against Brentford.

The crisis at Hotspur Way took another twist in midweek, in the Europa League.

Postecoglou was asked about the defender’s situation in Friday’s press conference and said: “Still not sure, we’ll let it settle down and get more information over the weekend. He’s obviously not available for this weekend.”

Turning his attention to Djed Spence and Sergio Reguilon, the Spurs boss added: “[Spence] should be available for the weekend. Sergio Reguilon should be OK. Every time I think I see the light at the end of the tunnel, it turns out to be an oncoming train.”

Postecoglou was also quizzed on several other injured players including the likes of Guglielmo Vicario, Brennan Johnson, Destiny Udogie and Timo Werner.

He revealed that most of the group will be ready to return to action over the next fortnight, though Cristian Romero and could be sidelined for longer.

“They’re all around 10 days’ time, Vic, Johnson, Destiny, Wilson [Odobert], Timo,” he explained. “Romero is a tricky one. There’s still work to do but all those guys apart from Dom [Solanke], a week behind, are all slated for the next week to 10 days.

“[With Romero] it’s just a slow healer, looking on a week-to-week basis. He’s been out a while. It’s just taking time.”

There are just a few days left until the January transfer window slams shut, meaning are running out of time to add some much-needed quality to their misfiring squad.

They have been linked with a move for Bayern Munich ace Mathys Tel, with reports suggesting that a £50million deal has already been agreed. However, before Monday’s deadline.

Asked if he was able to provide an update, Postecoglou said he was yet to hear anything concrete but offered hope that some business could be done in the final stages of the window.

“Not a great deal [on Tel],” he replied. “I usually find out at the tail end of this stuff. We are exploring some opportunities over the last couple of days to see what we can do.”
