youngster Tyrese Hall has been discussed internally at as a candidate to be included in Spurs’ swoop for Tyler Dibling.

Saints teenager Dibling has emerged as a serious target for , who would ideally like to sign him this month, but would settle for leaving themselves in a healthy position to win the race for his signature in the summer.

The chances of rock-bottom Southampton keeping Dibling beyond this season will be slim to none if they suffer relegation from the . And in-house talks have been held about how best to handle the situation if Spurs step up their pursuit.

Express Sport understands that one option under consideration is involving Hall in negotiations between the two clubs. Senior figures at St Mary’s have floated the idea of bringing the 19-year-old to the south coast if Dibling heads in the opposite direction.

Whether that takes the form of a part-exchange, two separate deals or Saints being given first dibs if Hall becomes available remains to be seen. Dibling’s market value is far higher than his Spurs counterpart given the senior experience he has banked this campaign.

Hall – a forward-thinking midfielder – has contributed to seven goals in 13 league games for ‘s U21s this season. And Spurs are open to loaning him out for a first taste of senior football before the window slams shut.

Spurs rate Hall highly and have tied him down to a long-term contract until the summer of 2029. But he has not been given first-team opportunities this campaign, despite impressing in pre-season.

hero Jermaine Defoe is a huge admirer of Hall, whose playing style reminds him of Luka Modric. “I’ll go as far as saying he’s probably one of the best players at his age I’ve seen in the country,” the former England striker told Sky Sports.

“He’s someone who I believe is a footballer. And that’s a big statement, but he’s someone who, from when I first saw him I thought, you know what? I believe, God willing, that he’s someone that can go in and play at the top, top level. Unbelievable footballer, so much potential.”
