Witches have always been a part of folklore and there are a plethora of films about the magic users. From good witches like Harry Potter’s Hermione Granger to the evil daughters of Satan in horror films, they come in all shapes and sizes. 7. Wicked (2024)

It may only be part 1, but this goosebump-inducing adaptation of the Broadway smash is a delight. This joyful musical takes place before, during and after the events of The Wizard of Oz, focused on frenemies Glinda the Good (Ariana Grande) and Elphaba, the future Wicked Witch of the West (Cynthia Erivo).

6. Bedknobs and Broomsticks (1971)

Nominated for five Oscars, Angela Lansbury’s witch-in-training teams up with three kids during the Battle of Britain to take on the Nazis. Together, they travel on an enchanted bed in this fantasy adventure featuring cartoons interacting with live-action humans.

5. Drag Me To Hell (2009)

Writer-director Sam Raimi returned to the horror genre with this hidden gem. The film follows a loan officer who decides not to extend an old woman’s mortgage to impress her boss. However, it turns out the elderly lady was a witch who damns her to Hell in three days unless the curse isn’t lifted in time.

4. Kiki’s Delivery Service (1989)

One of Studio Ghibli director Hayao Miyazaki’s classics, this light-hearted fantasy film follows a young witch who moves to a port city with her cat to start a flying courier business. The film is based on Eiko Kadono’s 1975 novel of the same name.
