In a heart-stopping moment caught on camera, former Spice Girl Mel B was pursued by a massive crocodile during the filming of the new series, Celebrity Bear Hunt. The singer found herself in a perilous chase through the Costa Rican jungle, closely followed by the 10-foot predator known affectionately as Juvenile Julie by the crew.

The tense scene unfolded while Mel B, along with other celebrities including , Lottie Moss, and Boris Becker, participated in survival challenges led by Bear Grylls.

The show, set to premiere on February 5 and hosted by , promises viewers a glimpse of nature’s raw ferocity mixed with high-stakes adventure.

Relief came when the reptile unexpectedly darted away from Mel B, a moment the crew half-jokingly attributed to the animal recognizing it had met its match with the formidable “Scary Spice.”

An insider shared: “All the crew were joking that even this terrifying man-eater knew it might have met its match with Scary, so performed a swift exit. But for a while, there were some seriously twitchy producers because, unlike shows like I’m A Celebrity, the crocs on Bear Hunt don’t have their jaws tied shut.”

Bear Grylls himself noted the intensity of the encounter, saying: “I think the crocodile getting so close to Mel B when she was trying to escape was the gnarliest thing that happened during filming. We got brilliant footage of the crocodile just lasering into her.”

Juvenile Julie is just one of many dangers in the series, which also features potentially deadly creatures like scorpions, tarantulas, and snakes, all naturally residing in the constrained area of the jungle set aside for the show.

Executive producer Ben Mitchell emphasised the authenticity and danger of the environment, stating: “All the animals that are in there really are just living there – it is genuinely terrifying.”
