Right-Wingers Get Quick Reminder Of Their Michelle Obama Hypocrisy

Irony meters exploded on social media during Wednesday’s Senate confirmation hearings for President Donald Trump’s controversial pick for secretary of Health and Human Services, Robert F. Kennedy Jr.

One element of Kennedy’s stated bid to “Make America Healthy Again” is to improve nutrition in school meals.

But commenters online recalled the conservative outrage and accusations of government overreach and nanny state when Michelle Obama attempted similar outcomes during the presidency of her husband, Barack Obama.

GOP double standards caused the former first lady’s name to trend online.

Tennis legend Martina Navratilova wrote on X, formerly Twitter:

“The same senators who shit on any proposal that Michelle Obama brought up for our kids to eat healthier in schools are now spouting the Make America Healthy again bullshit. The hypocrisy is quite staggering.”

Others agreed:

Just FYI, Michelle Obama said this 15 years ago and even introduced a whole plan to go along with it only for some people to label her “arrogant” and “out of touch” with “real Americans.” https://t.co/qyDEoH1X8fpic.twitter.com/PkMAXS7u1a

Michelle Obama called for healthier eating in our schools and the MAGA crowd went apeshit. Really they need to decide WTF they stand for.

MICHELLE OBAMA: Kids should eat healthier in schools

REPUBLICANS: She is a “communists” “marxists” “socialist” “fascist”

RFK JR: Kids should eat healthier in schools

REPUBLICANS: RFK Jr doesn’t want to poison our children. Make America Healthy Again. MAHA!!

— Covie (@covie_93) January 29, 2025

GOPers at RFKs confirmation hearing falling over themselves saying people should eat better to fight chronic disease, kids meals in schools should be healthier. Yet, when Michelle Obama suggested the exact same thing, their little heads exploded. The hypocrisy is just too much with these people!

These are the same ppl that crashed out when Michelle Obama wanted our kids to eat healthier. They stated it was America and they could eat whatever they wanted and the government wouldn’t be making decisions for them. 🤣🤣🤣 You hypocrites can hv this wacko #MAHApic.twitter.com/fTeHLCUInI

When Michelle Obama was crusading for nutritious food in schools, better diets and moving more. But the Freedom Caucus thought it burdensome and unworkable. But RFK Jr proposes better nutrition, GOP all over it. Sound familiar?

It’s funny watching all the people who called Michelle Obama a Marxist for wanting school food healthier now applauding and salivating over RFK Jr. for wanting school food healthier.

Why is their whole campaign about what Michelle Obama was trying to do during her husband’s presidency? I remember Republicans bashing her for trying to make food changes and get healthier meals in schools. 15+ years later and now all the sudden they care? Rrriiiiiiiiiiggghhhtt.

Michelle Obama tried to improve the school lunches for kids, but they fought back & wanted the processed crap.

But now, RFK Jr.’s ideas are great? pic.twitter.com/uCJzxyd767

LOL, they were really talking about school lunches. When Michelle Obama tried to do this, they lost their shit. pic.twitter.com/Kgg3dTwfOS

There was a high-profile fed. figure who advocated healthy eating and dietary guidelines for kids in schools. Her name was Michelle Obama. The GOP and their followers did nothing but denigrate her efforts and CRY about federal overreach. So fucking tired of the phoniness and hypocrisy @ RFK Jr nom
