Britain could be blanketed with in just hours, as show several areas at risk.

According to forecasting from WX Charts, the northwest and northeast of England, as well as large parts of Scotland, are in the firing line.

If it does arrive, the snow will hit the Highlands of Scotland and the Central Belt as the clock ticks over from January 30 to January 31.

There may also be a dusting in northern Lancashire and Cumbria around midnight.

It should come as little surprise that the snow is expected to first arrive in Scotland, as temperatures will be sub-zero in the early hours of January 31.

The Scottish Highlands, in particular, could see the mercury drop as low as -3C.

WX Charts forecasts that snowfall will move southward towards Manchester, Cheshire, Derbyshire, and Staffordshire towards 3am.
