Upon learning of the mid-air accident, he realised the passenger next to him had a daughter onboard. Moyer took to to express his condolences for those on the doomed American Airlines 5432 Witchita flight that exploded mid-air. He filmed himself walking through the airport after landing and deboarding his flight, with a caption across the video reading: “Thoughts and prayers for everybody on that Wichita flight.
“We were delayed in Charlotte because of winds in DC, I’m not sure how that played into my fortune or not. As we were approaching DC, we stopped right before touching down, we were scheduled to touch down at 8:55pm, we pulled back up and started circling DC.
“I didn’t think anything of it because of the winds, but I did notice that people started murmuring and then the captain came on and said there was an incident with a helicopter”, reports
A search and rescue mission was launched within minutes of the crash
He explained: “Our plane didn’t have fuel to continue circling, so we were diverted to the other Washington DC airport, Dulles, which is a really quick trip, we touched down here, probably 15 minutes later.”
As the situation unfolded, Moyer explained: “And by that time, people on board had to started to ascertain that there was a much bigger incident involving a commercial flight.” He shared that the man seated beside him had a daughter who worked as a flight attendant for PSA, and she had been on the ill-fated flight from Wichita.
In the video, Moyer appeared to be grappling with the aftermath of the horrific event. He said, “My flight was scheduled to touch down at 8:55pm, and that incident was at 8:53pm, we were following them into runway 33 at DC National Reagan, so I’m feeling like I was within two minutes of… death.”
He expressed gratitude and hope: “I’m just grateful that I am okay and hopeful that they are able to find a lot of survivors in the Potomac.” Offering condolences, Moyer added: “Prayers for everyone who was on that flight, and prayers for their family.”
