The impact of the crash caused a deep fryer on the other side of the wall to shift, spilling hot cooking oil on an employee
A man has been charged with a traffic offence for a crash that left a fast-food worker seriously injured in North Vancouver last year.
Just after 12 p.m. on March 16, 2024, an SUV in the drive-thru of an A&W in the 900-block of Marine Drive crashed into the north wall of the building. The impact of the crash caused a deep fryer on the other side of the wall to shift, spilling oil on an employee working nearby.
On Tuesday, George Collins of North Vancouver was charged with one count of driving without due care and attention under the Motor Vehicle Act.
“This incident had devastating consequences for the victim and our thoughts remain with them as they continue their recovery,” said North Van RCMP spokesman Const. Mansoor Sahak in a statement.
Collins is scheduled to make his first appearance in North Van provincial court on Feb. 26.
