GoCompare facing pressure from furious public to axe Wynne Evans as they stay silent

has been dealt a further blow as people have flocked to social media to demand he is dropped from his role in the GoCompare adverts despite the company so far refusing to address the issue.

Evans has been a fixture in the comparison website’s campaigns since 2012. He initally played the charcter of opera singer Gio Compario but in recent times he has also appeared as himself.

However, following revelations the 53-year-old was caught making a derogatory comment to tour host his popularity appears to have waned.

There are numerous demands on X for the brand to cut ties with the Welsh opera singer. “So @Gocompare did nothing and now we have yet another vile case from #gropecompare! When will they step up? #strictly #boycottgocompare,” one fumed.

“Well, that’s me finished with & Go Compare for definate,” another posted. A third asked: “@Gocompare Following on from his inappropriate behaviour on Strictly will you be ceasing using in your ad campaign.”

This is the latest blow for Evans who has been hit with a huge backlash after being caught making a joke about having a threesome with his co-star during a group photoshoot.

Initially he was simply slapped with a warning by bosses, with a spokesperson for the broadcaster confirming they “do not tolerate such behaviour”.

However, he has since been axed from the Strictly live tour altogether. He had already agreed to after the remark.

Evans has prevoiously spoken about how the GoCompare adverts changed his life. In a 2016 interview with the website he said: I’m in a very privileged position where people will pay me to do what I love doing, and playing Gio Compario is the best job I’ve ever had in my life.

“What’s not to love about it? You get to be silly and go to great locations to film and you make money out of it. I can’t tell you how much, but it’s changed my life. You’re in the public eye and more sought after. I owe everything to being in those adverts.”
