fans struggled to hold back their fury as admitted Brit could face further tax rises in the UK next month.
During Thursday’s visit (January 30) to the London studios, Stephen Dixon and his co-star Ellie Costello returned to the helm on the morning show where they discussed the biggest stories hitting the headlines.
This included the news that water bills are set to rise by £123 a year in April and the shocking plane crash that descended into a Washington DC river in the early hours of the morning.
Later on in the show, the dynamic duo welcomed the Chancellor onto the programme to discuss her latest support surrounding ‘s expansion plans.
Ellie asked her: “Talk in the papers today is saying that Heathrow won’t be ready until 2050. So what happens in the immediate term, in the next few months?

“Because if the economy continues to under perform and you don’t meet you fiscal rules, can you rule out emergency tax measures after March 26th which is when the OBR sets out its next economic forecast? Can you rule that out?”
The politician refused to rule out a possible tax hike in Spring as she explained how she and the government have reacted to the enormous debt they faced when Labour came into power last year.
She replied: “Well, we made tax changes in the budget. The office of budget responsibility will give their forecast on March 26th, that’s in two months time and I will set out our plans then.
“But in the budget in October, we did what was necessary to draw a line under the economic and fiscal mismanagement of the previous government – a £22billion black hole that I inherited that we have now addressed.
“But I will address the plans and I am very happy to come back on your programme to set those out on March 26th,” she concluded.
It didn’t take long before fans flooded to social media to share their frustrations with her response online, as one user wrote: “Reeves, the Chancellor of Chaos, refusing to rule out more taxes is like a comedian promising not to tell any more jokes. Wait, is this why we’re all broke?”
Another agreed: “Mark your calendars for March 26th, when the OBR forecasts will show the real state of our economy. @RachelReevesMP won’t rule out more tax hikes, confirming her strategy is to tax people into oblivion rather than stimulate growth. More proof of her economic mismanagement.”
A third fumed: “She’s an utter disgrace. Stealing money from the poor to pay to any country that demands it” as a fourth echoed: “She’s doing the literal opposite to creating ‘economic growth’ [face palm emoji].”
