Flavor Flav defended Selena Gomez this week after she was met with criticism over an emotional clip that saw her break down in tears over a surge in deportations under President Donald Trump.
“Team Selena Gomez. Again,” wrote the Public Enemy rapper of the “Only Murders in the Building” star in a post to X late Monday.
“That woman is always so brave to share her truth,,, and so many are quick to bully her,” he added.
The clip Gomez shared to her Instagram Stories, later deleted after seemingly being met with backlash, showed the third-generation Mexican American actor in tears because her “people are getting attacked” as she wished she “could do something” about it.
Federal officials have arrested thousands of people in immigration raids, which have swept up citizens, while Trump himself has pledged to deport “millions and millions of criminal aliens” in America.
The actor’s video was met with backlash, including from Trump’s border czar Tom Homan, who told Fox News this week that he had “no apologies” for the actor.
Flav previously went to bat for Gomez after online debate over her appearance led her to open up about her health, revealing that she had dealt with flareups from a condition known as small intestinal bacterial overgrowth last year.
“I don’t know her personally,,, but Selena Gomez is one of the STRONGEST and MOST BEAUTIFUL people inside and out,” wrote Flav in a post to X in November.
“I applaud her for being so open about her health and mental health. And I applaud her even more for clapping back at haterz,,, but she shouldn’t have to.”
Earlier this week, Gomez hit back at Sam Parker — a Republican who unsuccessfully ran for a U.S. Senate seat in Utah — who called to “deport” her even though she was born and raised in Texas.

“Oh, Mr. Parker, Mr. Parker,” she replied on her Instagram Stories. “Thanks for the laugh and the threat.”
