Bargain Hunt expert shut down after fake item exposed

Bargain Hunt presenter and expert Christina Trevanion was flawlessly shut down on the show as she made an incorrect guess on a certain antique.

The 43-year-old was back at the helm as another fresh set of contestants battled it out to discover who would be on top of the ultimate buying and selling challenge.

During the show, Christina met an expert to discuss a programme for the 1966 World Cup final.

Bringing along two copies, the host wanted to discover which one was a fake and which one was the real deal.

Placing the two programme side by side, the expert said: “The problem with the World Cup ’66 programme is that they reprinted it several times over the years.”

Christine asked: “So those reprints, will those be classified as fakes?”

The expert agreed, giving Christine the chance to figure out which one was real or fake.

Speaking confidently, she pointed to one of the programmes and said: “This one I think is the real one. That one looks a bit shiny to me. I’d say that one is the fake one.”

The expert replied: “Well you’re wrong. But it was a good guess!”

Comparing the two programmes, the expert explained that the colour of the font of each copy is what makes difference between the real and counterfeit versions.

He also explained that certain aspects of the printed copy are not as clear as the original from the inside.

Christina, who is also an expert in antiques previously shared details of her personal life on Bargain Hunt when she brought in her great-grandfather’s medals to learn more about their history.

She travelled to Leominster, Herefordshire, to meet military expert Steve Nuwar, where she explained: “I’ve brought along my great-grandfather’s medals. He’s a bit of a family hero, Gerald Arthur Stacey, bless him.

“He was my granny’s father. And I was hoping that you might be able to tell me a bit more about them.”

Nuwar shared that Christina’s great-grandfather was an important figure in the military, serving in the Second Battalion London Regiment of the Royal Fusiliers. He climbed the ranks to become a Major and served as the battalion’s second-in-command.

For his remarkable service, he was later awarded the Distinguished Service Order by King George V and France’s highest honor, the Legion D’Honneur.
