“Late Show” host Stephen Colbert called out President Donald Trump for an “autocratic move” in his attempt to freeze all federal grants, potentially putting trillions of dollars on the line.
As Colbert noted, that freeze ― which was quickly put on hold by a judge ― could be devastating for the nonprofit groups that rely on federal money to provide essential services.
Colbert broke out his Trump impression to reassure Americans.
“Oh they’re all gonna be fine, folks, don’t you worry about it. I have a lot of experience in nonprofits,” Colbert said. “In fact, all of my casinos did ‘non’ make a profit.”
Trump’s Atlantic City casinos made multiple trips to bankruptcy before ultimately being sold off and/or shut down, as the New York Times detailed in 2016.
