‘Panicking’ Rachel Reeves annihilated on Talk TV as star rages ‘good case to sack her’

The politician was invited on the show on Wednesday (January 29) following Reeves’ .

However, the conversation turned brutal as Cole called for the Chancellor to be removed from her role within the Government.

Talking to Jones, he listed: “You’ve increased spending, you’ve increased taxes, you’ve pushed borrowing to the absolute limit, you’ve destroyed business confidence.

“You killed growth,” the journalist added as he probed: “This is all a panic, isn’t it? This is a good case to sack the Chancellor.”

However, the MP brushed it off as “complete rubbish,” and stated: “You saw today a strong Chancellor in control of the agenda for this country.”

“Really? Or a panicking Chancellor pivoting and trying to U-turn,” Cole interrupted.

Jones instantly shut down these claims, adding: “No, she’s not panicking. You’re creating a fiction.

“It was a great speech today, setting out this Government’s agenda, why the Plan For Change is working; the Plan For Change that the British people voted for with a historic landslide for the Labour Government.”

The politician continued: “We’re getting on with the job of change that we promised in delivering and that is a great thing for the country.”

After Cole questioned if Jones wanted a job as Chancellor “one day,” he immediately denied any interest and stated: “No, Rachel’s a brilliant Chancellor and she’s going to be there for a very long time.

The Chief Secretary concluded: “The job’s hard, there’s lot’s to do but that’s why she said we’ve got to go further and faster.”

During the speech, Reeves confirmed that the government would back plans to build a third runway at , arguing that it would create 100,000 new jobs and that it would approve a £7.9bn investment for water companies to build nine new reservoirs.

Among other announcements, she also unveiled plans for the Lower Thames Crossing, a £9bn tunnel linking Tilbury in Essex and Gravesend in Kent to become the UK’s largest road tunnel.

Although it will also mark one of the most expensive infrastructure projects in British history, Reeves stated that the government is exploring how to finance it privately.
