Mythic Quest has finally returned from a lengthy hiatus with its fourth season on Apple TV+ which promises to throw its beloved gamers into some unexpected new directions.
With Poppy Li (played by Charlotte Nicdao) and Ian Grimm (Rob McElhenney) back at the helm, it appears to be business as usual for the video game developers.
However, the soaring profits during the -19 pandemic are now dwindling, leaving executive producer David Brittlesbee (David Hornsby) scrambling.
Meanwhile, some startling developments in the team’s personal lives shake up Poppy and Ian’s partnership and casts doubt over the future of the entire company.
Perhaps most shocking is the introduction of Poppy’s first love interest who starts to distract her during the development of Mythic Quest’s latest expansion.

“Chase Yi plays Storm and he was so amazing,” Nicdao shared in an exclusive interview with Screen Time.
“I remember the first day meeting him, I think he came in for his costume fitting and I’d obviously read the script so I had a picture of the character in my mind.
“When we met I was like, ‘Oh, you are this character!’ Like, this guy is literally an artist and a photographer, he has the exact energy that Storm has. I was like, ‘Wow, they literally found this character manifest in real life’.”
Storm will become a major player throughout this new season, though it’s still unclear just how serious their relationship will be by the finale.
Until then, Mythic Quest fans can enjoy seeing a side of Poppy they’ve never seen before which will undoubtedly lead to a hilarious new dynamic with Ian.

Nicdao continued: “I really loved that for Poppy, that she’s found someone outside of work that kind of fulfills all of the partnership needs she has that she’s never been able to have fulfilled by Ian.
“It was such a fun thing to get to play with. I never, ever would have pictured Poppy in a romantic relationship, and so I feel like it comes so out of left field. It’s like, okay so who is this woman with a boyfriend?
“She’s almost found this completely new part of herself.”
Nicdao also teased an upcoming episode where viewers will “really get to see her let her guard down and have that intimacy and playfulness.
“We’ve never really seen her be supported in that way before, and I love that for her.”
Hornsby’s grovelling Mythic Quest producer David will also undergo some transformations this season as some episodes will see him develop a newfound confidence.

“We have a lot of arcs this season with the different characters, fun surprising arcs which I’m excited for people to see,” he shared.
“I think for David, he’s in the middle trying to manage it all. But I get a few shots in there. We see David trying to befriend Ian. We see Brad (Danny Pudi) trying to play David as a pawn in his game.
“And I also bare all this season,” he teased. “In many ways. So, there’s some fun storylines, but at the end of the day I’m still trying to manage an even larger-scale situation that causes more extreme feelings and egos.”
Two brand new episodes of Mythic Quest are already available for your streaming pleasure with much more to be revealed over the coming weeks.
Mythic Quest season 4 continues Wednesdays on Apple TV+.
